Babysitter's Safety Course
Certification in CPR and Babysitting Safety
We are pleased to offer an accredited babysitting course which enables boys and girls ages 11 and up to have a foundation in CPR, first aid and child safety. Upon successful completion of this course, participants will receive a certificate in CPR and babysitting safety. The six-hour course is held on a single Saturday from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. The course is taught by Nil, who is certified by the American Heart Association in CPR instruction and by the American Safety and Health Institute. The cost of the course is $100.00.

Session 1
In the first session, participants are taught:
- CPR for infants, children, and adults
- Choking assistance
- Use of an AED (automated external defibrillator)
- Essential first aid skills
Participants receive a textbook with an instructional CD. At the end of the session participants are given a skills test and upon passing receive an American Heart Association card for CPR, first aid, and AED that is valid for two years.
Session 2
Topics in the second session include:
- Infant care
- Changing a diaper
- Bedtime strategies
- Answering the telephone
Participants also review how to get started as a babysitter and discuss guidelines for working with families. Participants receive a second textbook for this session. This portion of the course is approved by the American Safety and Health Institute. Upon passing a written test given at the end of this session, participants receive a certification card that is valid for two years.
