You could say that medicine is in my blood: My father was an ob/gyn physician and my daughter is pediatric cardiologist. As far back as I can remember, I wanted to be a pediatrician.

Since I had two children before attending medical school, I know how it feels to be a mom and to not know medicine. Because of this, it has always been my philosophy to empower parents with as much knowledge as possible. I truly believe there is no such thing as a silly question.

My dad would always say, “The best medicine is the one you don’t need … but if you need it, you had better take it.” It has been my motto as a pediatrician to first do no harm, take nothing for granted, think things through carefully, and come up with the proper solution.

Education and Post Doctoral Training

Dr. Bartels graduated from New York University and received her Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. She completed her residency in pediatrics at New York Hospital.

In addition to the above hours, Dr. Bartels is also available by appointment for consultations on some weekdays before 8:30 am and after 5:30 pm. These visits can be an invaluable time for in-depth discussions of various issues, including school and attention problems and behavioral concerns. This is also when Dr. Bartels schedules prenatal visits or consultations with families interested in finding out more about her practice.
