Our Laboratory

CLIA Certified Lab Tests

Willows Pediatrics offers a wide array of laboratory services in our CLIA certified lab. We can perform the following tests in our office:

  • Complete blood count

  • Erythrocyte sedimentation rate

  • Finger stick testing for hemoglobin (anemia check)

  • Mono test

  • Pinworm evaluation

  • Rapid strep test

  • Throat culture

  • Urinalysis

  • Urine culture

  • Urine Pregnancy Test


We can also draw blood and collect samples in our lab for testing by the outside lab specified by your insurance (either Quest Diagnostics or Clinical Laboratory Partners).We have computer access to obtain results from Quest Diagnostics and Clinical Laboratory Partners and determine if there are special handling requirements for blood tests. Orders from specialists for lab work can also be honored; we ask parents to make an appointment for this by calling Monday - Friday 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, extension 1222. Please note it is not always possible to draw blood work ordered by specialists during a check up; we ask that you check with your physician or physician assistant 24-48 hours prior to to your child's physical exam in order to properly prepare the paperwork and determine if any special handing is required. Please keep in mind that certain tests must be drawn early in the day; Mary, Val, or Grisel will advise you when you call.  If your child or adolescent needs fasting blood work done, appointments are available before 8:30. 

Our Board Certified Medical Lab Technicians

Our lab technicians, Mary Ryan, Valerie Williams, and Grisel Lopez are board certified medical laboratory technicians. Mary is also state-certified as a clinical lab technologist and a general laboratory supervisor. Grisel has been with Willows for more than 10 years; Mary for more than nine years, and Val more than seven years. They all enjoy working with parents and children, including infants and children with special needs, with the goal of making your experience as smooth and tears-free as possible.
